As I'm sure you've read, Mikey and Bryan are no longer in Deathead. I'm actually kind of sad to see Mikey go. We had some great chemistry and did some really cool things together.
Bryan was asked to leave just because we never gelled as guitarists. His things he wanted to do didn't sit well with what I wanted to do and as guitarists in a band we tended to butt heads on quite a few different things, but overall he was a good guy.
I have nothing bad to say about either one of them. Rusty and myself are carrying on and we are seeking replacements, but so long as we can find a solid bass player, we'll be back playing. Even if it is as a three piece unit.
As I mentioned I am sad to see Mikey go and wish things would have worked out differently. The choice to leave was his, he was invited to stay but he didn't want to. I have no ill will toward him for his choice and hopefully he will be doing something soon. I would be down at the front row to mosh along.
Deathead has always been about pushing forward and that is not going to change now. As most of you "lifers" here know, each time we've made a change it's been an improvement and it's pushed us further up the ladder that we are constantly climbing.
This is a new frontier and a new challenge and we will rise above and come back bigger, better and stronger for what we've had to sacrifice to get there.
I have my eyes on a few possible replacements, it's just a matter of getting them to come down to the practice space and getting involved.
To dispel any rumors that anyone else has said, I'm not a dictator in a band, but still there has to be direction. I am 100% interested in sitting down with another guitarist or bass player whose playing I respect and writing songs.
I thought Mikey and I were going to sit down and write something, but it never panned out.
My style and Bryan's style was so left field of each other that it just didnt' work.
I look forward to the day when Deathead has a second guitarist that can sit down with me and write some sick twisted shit. Hopefully that day will be soon.
